Who am I

From the very beginning, man began a quest in search of the greatest secret – Who am I? The corridors of power, politics and knowledge have revealed this undying quest even to this day. Evolution, New-Age movement, Buddhism and Christianity stand in the forefront as guides for this big question. Who am I?

Q - Do you know ‘who you are?’

Jer 33:3
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know

Let’s look at some of the major beliefs:
Atheism: evolved micro-organism
Hinduism: soul seeking salvation or freedom from the cycle
New age: Self-realization
Judeo-Christianity – image of God, created to worship and praise God and do his will.

Judeo-Christian viewpoint
Created being
Material: dust/clay
Composition: Salt, calcium, silica, sulphur, potassium and sundry other elements + water + blood
Life: nephesh (in all animals)
Soul: breathe of God – unique spirit
Image of God – representatives of God on earth, similar logic patterns placed in our minds, similar values placed in our hearts (sub-conscious)

Human beings
Physical:
Hereditary, genes, traits, curse
5 senses

Mental: (Soul)
Conscious (mind)
Sub-conscious (heart)
Super-conscious (soul interaction, choice)

Spiritual (relationship with the creator)

Spirit salvation is very simple. One simply believes that Jesus Christ died for his sins. One can do nothing to earn this salvation. It is a gift from God, and the Holy Spirit even provides the faith. However, the Scriptures go into great detail regarding soul salvation, which should occur after spirit salvation. The Scriptures are also clear that effort or striving is necessary for soul salvation.
A believer can save his soul by getting rid of sin in his life and studying and obeying the Bible. This requirement differs from Acts 16:30-31. Spirit salvation and soul salvation are not the same.
The difference between spirit salvation and soul salvation is the difference between grace and works. The spirit is saved by faith in Jesus Christ, while the soul is saved by faithfulness to Jesus Christ. Soul salvation does not determine whether a person enters heaven, but it does determine his reward in heaven. Some Christians will enter heaven with no reward because of unfaithfulness to Jesus.
Definition of Man:
Special and unique representative of God, crafted and lovingly created for a specific purpose with gifts, values and logic and wisdom added as vital ingredients of the mind.

Collapse of man:
Free will (choice) - Temptation – Desire - Choosing – Disobedience – Knowledge overflow – Secrecy – Lies – Blame (man & God) – punishment – gates closed – gates guarded – landscape change (after flood) – man searching – one tribe chosen – one family chosen – one girl chosen – one Savior predestined – Free will (choice)

Understanding myself

Self-conscious – awareness and free-will
Introspection

Conscious
Knowing and perceiving; having awareness of surroundings and sensations and thoughts

• Absorb knowledge
• Think
• Part of the mind we are constantly aware of
• RAM
• Intellectual
• Logic
• Function: give order

A: What all do you like / did you like (go as far back as your memory allows)

A: What all do you dislike (limit yourself to the present)

Strengths
• What are your advantages?
• What do you do well?
• What is your greatest asset?

Weaknesses
• What could be improved?
• What do you do badly?
• What should you avoid?

Sub-Conscious
Psychic activity just below the level of awareness/consciousness

Feelings (loves, fears, hates, desires, passions, secrets, charities, courage, resentments etc)
Storehouse
Values
Physical body reflects the subconscious
Function: Create

A: what do you love in your parents – Filter out their values from this?

A: What are your core values?

A: What are your beliefs?

Super-Conscious
Will/choice based on the other two, in interaction with spirit.
Temptation vs Obedience

Character
The inherent complex of attributes that determine a persons moral and ethical actions and reactions

Noah – faithful, obedient
Moses – leader, trained to lead, fearful, love for people & God
Paul – intelligent, leader, spirit filled, strong, faithful, and humble

This is YOU. The big question, can this be changed?

Rom 8:29 – Imitate Christ, for that is the only way we can please God
Prov 3:5-6

Q: Who am I becoming? (Am I becoming like the one, God made me for?)
